CHIPPING

Sometimes your approach shot lands short of the green but near it.  You cannot use your putter because the grass is slightly rougher.  Think of chipping as a long putt.  The mechanics are the same as putting.

Ball Position

Note that the feet are closer together and the ball is closer to the back foot.

Alignment

Aim as if you are making a putt.  Note the breaks and possible hazards.

Remember to complete the follow through and do not stop at impact.

Posture

1. Weight is more on the front foot.

2. Sweep the grass beneath the ball similar to a putting stroke with a short pull back.

3. A short follow through like making a putt.
