LESSON
BUNKER SHOT (GREEN SIDE)

Bunkers are strategically located to protect the greens and fairways and make the game of golf more challenging.  Hitting the ball out of the bunker looks like a daunting task but is actually not difficult if you hit it correctly and with confidence.

Ball Position
Ball position is towards the front foot and is on the line of your front heel. Aim 2 inches behind the ball.
Alignment
Aim the ball towards the left side of the flag. Swing more with your arms and make sure you complete your follow-through.
Posture
1. Weight should be on the front foot.  Open the club face and keep hands close to the middle of the stance. 2. The mechanics of the upper body during the shot is exactly the same as the full swing.
3. Weight should still be on the front foot and that there is no weight transfer during the shot. 4. Strike the ball with confidence.  A bunker shot is difficult only if you think it is.
5. After finishing, make sure to rake the bunker to make it as smooth as possible.
